In our days, the use of the word candlestick and the word candlestick tends to be confused and used interchangeably. We will try to shed a little light on the different definitions with the help of the RAE dictionary.

Difference between candlestick and candelabra

The two key questions we try to answer are what is a candlestick? What is a candelabra?

To solve this riddle, as we have said, we will take as a reference the definition used by the RAE of both concepts.

Meaning of candlestick

Returning to the reference with which we started this entry, the RAE Dictionary (Diccionario de la Real Academia Española de la Lengua) defines candlestick as:

"Utensil used to keep the candle or candle upright, and consists of a hollow cylinder attached to a foot by a bar or column".

Meaning of candelabra

Following the search started in the dictionary of the RAE we can find that the definition of candlestick is:

"Candlestick with two or more arms".

In summary, and following the indications of the RAE, we will consider a candlestick to be that piece of metalware in which a single candle can be placed. And we will call candelabra those candleholders that allow two or more candles to be placed.

According to the Royal Spanish Academy of Language, the fundamental difference between a candlestick and a candlestick is the number of candles they can hold. Bearing this in mind, it can be said that there are candlesticks or candlesticks made of all kinds of materials (bronze, wood, glass, metal, etc.); that there are candlesticks or candlesticks of different shapes and styles (baroque, classic, modern, etc.); that you can find candlesticks or candlesticks of different types (standing, table, etc.), ...
