The sweet and cheerful face of Mi Santiago will win over lovers of the Compostela Way from all over the world. It is an ideal souvenir to give to children, nephews, grandchildren, etc... The softness of its touch is comforting and its gaze transmits the tranquility of walking the Camino.
The stuffed animal is dressed in the classic pilgrim clothing:
- Brown pilgrim hat with the scallop shell , symbol of the Camino de Santiago. Cap with wide and rounded wings. The hat has the front part folded upwards, making the typical shape of the pilgrim hat.
- Blue layer . The cape was one of the elements that protected the pilgrim from inclement weather.
- Pilgrim's cape in brown to match the hat. The esclavina is another of the classic elements of the pilgrims' attire. It is usually short, like in our teddy bear, and serves to protect pilgrims from snow and rain. It is usually made of a more resistant material than the layer. The slave of the pilgrim Santiago doll has the Cross of Santiago embroidered with red thread. The most famous slave in the world is the one that decorates the image of Santiago Apóstol located on the main altar of the Cathedral of Compostela. This cape is decorated with numerous pilgrim shells and a Cross of Santiago.
- Staff or pilgrim's staff . Santiago's stuffed animal carries the staff in his right hand. Element that supports all pilgrims in times of difficulty with which the Camino challenges them.
- Satchel or pilgrim's bag . The stuffed animal carries a brown bag in its left hand. The bag was used by pilgrims to store all those objects and food necessary to reach Compostela.
- Brown sandals . Traditionally it was of great resistance to be able to withstand the long days that the pilgrims undertook.
Santiago Apóstol has been and continues to be a central figure in the Christianization of the Iberian Peninsula . Already in the first century, and following the instructions of Our Lord Jesus Christ, he arrived in the land of the Iberians to make known the word of Jesus. He encountered a lot of resistance among the locals, but Santiago did not give up. Because of his unwavering faith, the image of the Virgin Mary appeared to him on a Pillar , a column of Jasper, and told him “Here is my son Jacobo (or Santiago), the place of my choice. Look at this pillar that I sit on, sent by my son and your teacher. On this land you will build a chapel. And the Most High will work, for Me, admirable miracles on all those who implore, in their needs, my help. This pillar will remain here until the end of time, so that worshipers of Jesus Christ will never be lacking.” In that same place the Basilica of the Virgen del Pilar was built, the first Marian Christian temple.

Teddy "Jesus of my life"
Jesusito, a cuddly toy with history
Religious images for Christmas (baby Jesus, nativity scenes , mangers, Three Wise Men, etc…) are some of the most popular images nowadays, especially among boys and girls. Who is not excited to start the new year with the joy that the Birth of Jesus gives us? . What boy or girl is not filled with joy by bringing the Three Kings closer to the manger every day? .
We all know that a good Nativity is not complete without a beautiful image of the Child Jesus in his crib . All eyes end up focused on Jesus and his beauty. What boy or girl has not wanted to have the Child Jesus as a playmate? .
This question takes us to Toledo, where, during Christmas, a child saw the image of the Child Jesus that his parents had. The boy was impressed by the beauty of the image of the Child Jesus, and wanted, with the naturalness of his age, to start playing with the Christmas image.
The parents, seeing the fact, tried to explain to their son that the image of the Child Jesus, valuable and very fragile, was not made to play with him. The son did not understand the reason for the refusal, all his short life he had played with children, and now he could not play with the Child Jesus.
The son did not give up and kept insisting: "I want to play with Baby Jesus" ; The parents stood by their decision. At the same time they were deeply saddened, their son wanted to play with the Baby Jesus, which they thought was an excellent idea, but they could not fulfill the son's wish. The religious image they had was not a suitable playmate.
Christmas passed, and determined to fulfill their own wishes and those of their son, they began to search in stores, shops and supermarkets for a religious image of the Child Jesus that their son could play with. The gift was made to wait, time passed and the options were reduced every day.
The gift did not arrive. The parents were surprised that no one had thought of making an image of the Child Jesus so that their children, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and children in general could play. How could it be? They were sure that, as their son had asked, many other boys and girls, in Spain and in the rest of the world, would want a Baby Jesus to hug and play with.
They decided to get down to work and design a stuffed toy themselves.
This is how the Jesusito de mi vida cuddly toy was born, an idea that in its short history has already been blessed by Pope Francis.
