The author of the wood carving of Our Lady of the Valley
Ramón Lapayese (1928-1994) , master of aesthetics and creator of timeless forms, knew how to work with the most varied materials with always surprising results. His work, pictorial, sculptural or graphic, appears in numerous museums and official and private collections around the world, and his original works have often been a source of inspiration for other artists. But no one like him has been able to capture the emotion of his characters with such success, for which he sometimes resorted to the most exquisite simplification.
