Saint Jude Thaddeus, closely associated with Jesus

Saint Jude Thaddeus is a saint closely related to Jesus. He had a blood connection with Our Lord, as he was a cousin of Christ and, therefore, the nephew of the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph.

Saint Jude was an apostle of Jesus, and later, a missionary, dedicated to the conversion of pagans.

He is known for his letter in the New Testament, where he denounces heresies and encourages Christians to remain faithful to the Christian faith despite persecutions.

He suffered martyrdom in the region of Beirut, present-day Lebanon, at the end of the first century AD. Alongside him, the apostle Simon the Zealot also suffered martyrdom.

He was sentenced to be beaten with a club until death. After his death, his head was cut off with an axe. For this reason, it is common to see statues and representations of Saint Jude Thaddeus with an axe or a club in his hand, the tools of his martyrdom.

According to tradition, before dying, Saint Jude told Saint Simon that he was seeing Jesus.

According to her accounts, Jesus Himself appeared to her and recommended that she request certain favors through Saint Jude Thaddeus. Due to his great heart, he was appropriate to help resolve situations of great difficulty.

Novenas are a form of prayer that lasts for nine days. They can be dedicated to Saints, the Virgin Mary, or specific intentions.

Novenas can be nine consecutive days leading up to a feast or specific days of the week or month. Some novenas have a long tradition associated with devotion to a saint or a private revelation.
