Corpus Christi literally means "Body of Christ" in Latin. On this feast all Christians celebrate the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Corpus Christi is the feast of the Blood and Body of Jesus.
The feast of Corpus Christi commemorates the establishment of the Holy Eucharist by Jesus during the celebration of the Last Supper with all of his disciples. The Blessed Sacrament is worthy of public worship because Jesus is present.
