Electric censer, substitute for liturgical coal
Burning incense is traditionally linked to the use of charcoal. Incense gives off smoke and odor when in contact with glowing charcoal. The lit charcoal is usually placed in a metal container (a censer, incense burner, etc...) and then, with the help of a teaspoon or some other utensil, the incense is placed on the charcoal. This method has been used for centuries in parishes, processions, homes, etc...
Modern technology offers us an alternative method to coal, the electric censer. The electronic incense burner is a tool designed to be able to enjoy the smell and smoke of liturgical incense without the need to use charcoal.
Electronic censer, how does it work?
The electric censer is a religious article designed to be used quickly and easily. Its operation is based on a surface that raises its temperature to cause the incense to emit smoke and smell . The area that becomes incandescent is powered by electricity.
The electricity that generates the heat of the censer is stored in a battery that is filled with a charger included in the purchase price. The electronic censer must be plugged into the electrical current before use. Once this is done, the incense is placed in the censer and the censer is lit at the ON/OFF button. Once lit, in less than a minute, you can start enjoying the smoke and smell of the incense.
The incense burner will emit heat for a period of time and then go out. Even though the electronic censer is turned off, the accumulated heat will continue to burn the incense.
If it is verified that the smell and/or the smoke of the incense begins to decrease, the ON/OFF button can be pressed again, the electric censer will begin to emit heat again. It is not recommended to press the ON/OFF button more than three consecutive times. The system could overheat and cause damage to the censer.
The led bulb in the base of the censer will remain orange while the incense burner is working.
Incense to burn in the electronic censer
As specified in the previous paragraph, the electronic censer serves to replace the liturgical charcoal tablets. Eliminated this element, when burning incense, we only have to worry about the burner battery being charged and using an appropriate incense.
There is a wide variety of incense, in different shapes, colors and scents. The range of liturgical incenses that can be purchased is almost unlimited. To obtain optimum performance from the electronic censer, it is recommended to use medium-sized grain incense. Those incense that are for sale in grains of approximately 3 or 4 millimeters in diameter are ideal. It is important to avoid burning powdered incense or very fine incense. This type of liturgical consumables could get stuck in the burner and cause flames.
In relation to the amount of grains to use during incensing, it is recommended to start with few grains. Once the amount of smoke and smell given off by the deposited incense is verified, gradually increase the amount of grains until the desired result is achieved. It is important to do this process whenever a new type of incense is used. Incense of different types of incense can generate different results depending on the brand, grain size, etc...
Charge the electric censer
The electronic censer needs to be charged in order to burn incense. The charging process is very simple. You only have to connect the charger that includes the censer at the base of the burner, and at the other end into a power outlet.
The electronic censer has an LED light that lights up in different colors and in two ways: steady and flashing.
If the incense burner is completely unloaded, the led light will be solid red. While if the censer is low on battery, the lamp will be flashing red.
During the charging process, when the electric censer is plugged in, the LED light will flash green. Once the censer battery is complete, the LED light will turn solid, that is, solid green. The complete charging process, if the battery is completely empty, can take up to 3 hours.
The first time the incense burner is charged, or when it has not been used for a long time, it may take longer for the light to react and flash green.
It is recommended to store the electronic censer with some charge.
