Lecterns are portable pieces of furniture widely used in celebrations of the Catholic Church. The price of the lecterns varies depending on a series of characteristics that must be valued when buying.
Religious lectern material
The lecterns can be manufactured in various materials. In Brabander you can buy bronze lecterns, acrylic or methacrylate lecterns, metal lecterns, wooden lecterns, etc...
The material in which the pieces of furniture are made determines their price. For example, lecterns made of bronze have a higher selling price than methacrylate lecterns. Or the wrought iron lecterns are cheaper than the methacrylate lecterns, etc.
Lecterns are usually used in two different ways. Either they are used using a table as a base, or they are lecterns with their own foot. Depending on the location where you want to place the lectern, we must choose between standing lecterns or table lecterns.
Lecterns are portable pieces of religious furniture that tend to perform different functions and be in different places depending on the need.
The folding and adjustable lecterns in inclination or height allow a better adaptation to different places and situations.
Lecterns are one of the classic elements of the altars of Catholic churches. Most standing altar lecterns are made up of three main parts:
The base or foot of the altar lectern is the part that is in contact with the ground. It can be of a wide variety of shapes, sizes, etc... There are lecterns with circular bases, square bases, with feet with various supports,....
The foot of the lectern must be strong enough to support the weight of the structure, in addition to being of sufficient size to guarantee the stability of the piece.
The bases of the lecterns can be decorated with elements in relief, low relief, be totally smooth...
The axis is the central part of the stand. It is the area that serves as a connection between the base and the tray (area on which the Gospels, the Missal or other Sacred Texts rest). It is a part that can have a wide variety of designs, shapes and decorations.
The axes can be adjustable to facilitate the reading of the Holy Scriptures: Bible, Missal, etc.
The lectern tray or desk
The desk or tray is the part of the lectern located at the top. Its main function is to serve as a support area for the Missal, Bible or any other religious book that will be used during liturgical celebrations.
The tray is usually made up of two parts. The first of these, known as the book back or plate , is the part placed at an angle. On this area rests the spine of the Bible, Missal or other book that is placed on the lectern. It usually has an inclination that facilitates reading. In some lecterns this inclination is adjustable. The backrest can be made of a single piece or be built with several bars placed in different positions. On many occasions the book plate is decorated with religious symbols such as JHS, symbols of the four evangelists (an eagle, a bull, an angel or a lion), etc...
In non-religious areas, scores are placed on this area to read music, sheets and documents for reading or study, notebooks and notepads to write, canvases to draw and paint, laptops and tablets, macbooks or ebooks, etc.
The second part of the tray is known as the lip or shelf . This piece serves as a stop so that the books placed on the back do not fall to the ground. There are a wide variety of shapes and decorations for the lip.
