Liquid wax for candles, use and conservation

Liquid wax or paraffin for candles is an increasingly common consumable in our parishes, brotherhood houses, chapels, etc... Priests, brothers, sisters, nuns and a large number of people have chosen candles with a paraffin deposit to replace to traditional wax candles.

  • Fill the tank or container of a paraffin candle

Candles with liquid wax containers are easy to fill and have a long life. The flame they produce during the burning of paraffin is similar to the flame of wax candles. For these reasons, many of our clients have chosen to buy candles with liquid wax containers.

Filling the deposits of liquid wax candles is a very simple process. Paraffin candles are generally made up of two parts. On the one hand, they have an outer tube, generally made of plastic with an imitation natural wax color. On the other hand, candles have a removable inner plastic or metal tank that serves as a container for liquid wax.

The tank or container is usually closed by a piece that serves as a cap and as a support for the wick. Once the deposit has been removed from the candle and the cap has been opened, it is filled with the paraffin considered. I fill the container, cover it again, check that the wick is well placed, and put it back in the outer tube of the candle. Once this process is done, the paraffin candle is ready to be used again.

Logically, the smaller the candle, the smaller the container that fits inside it and the more times this process will have to be repeated.

  • Preserving paraffin for candles

Liquid wax, despite being a widely used consumable, must be used with a series of precautions.

- It should not be ingested. Paraffin could cause wounds and burns if swallowed.

- It should be kept away out of reach of children. It is advisable to store it in locked cabinets if possible.
