San Isidro Labrador, tireless worker

San Isidro Labrador was a very religious man who was passionate about the countryside. He loved farming. San Isidro Labrador carried out many miracles and feats throughout his life. Almost all of them linked to the water and the fields of Madrid.

Tradition tells us that, despite being a very kind and religious person, his outstanding work in the countryside of Madrid soon aroused envy among the neighbors.

Some of the peasants who lived near the city of Madrid went to denounce San Isidro Labrador in front of his lord, Don Iván de Vargas.

Don Iván was known in the court of Madrid for being a just and wise man. Don Iván held San Isidro in high esteem, the lord knew that his servant was a religious and hard-working person.

Don Iván willing to know the truth, went to the fields near the city of Madrid where he knew San Isidro was.

The man, hiding behind some strawberry trees, observed how San Isidro works tirelessly. The Saint gave no respite to the oxen or to the land of Madrid for which he tirelessly plowed.

Then something happened that amazed Don Iván. San Isidro, after a long time without resting, stopped to catch his breath. The saint, very religious, immediately began to pray. Then D. Iván saw how the plow continued to plow through the earth. Heavenly angels had come down from heaven to continue working with the oxen while San Isidro prayed .
