The Miraculous Virgin, or Virgin of the Miraculous Medal, is a Marian devotion greatly venerated by Catholics. Her name comes from the apparition of the Virgin to Saint Catherine Labouré in 1830.
On the night of July 18, 1930, Sister Catherine dreamed that a child was calling her. Following him, she found the Virgin in the chapel. The Virgin gave the nun instructions about her mission, advice for her spiritual life, and warnings about misfortunes in France.
On November 27, 1830, the Virgin appeared to her again, dressed in white and blue, with a blue orb under her feet and crushing a serpent. She extended her hands, which had precious stone rings, from which rays of light emanated, symbolizing the graces for those who had faith in her.
