Jesus is the Good Shepherd, the one who cares for and protects His sheep. He is the one who watches over and guards His flock. The Good Shepherd who will give His life to save His sheep.

Additionally, Jesus holds a lamb in His hands. The lamb is one of the classical symbols with which Jesus has been identified throughout history. Jesus is often called the "Lamb of God." On the Paschal Candle, the lamb is accompanied by the Resurrection banner, a white banner with a red Cross that represents the Resurrection of Jesus, the victory of our Savior over death.
