Saint Martin de Porres is a highly popular saint among Catholics, especially in South America.

He was born in Lima in 1579, a Peruvian saint. He was the illegitimate son of the illustrious nobleman Don Juan de Porres and the mulatto Ana Vázquez. Throughout his childhood, he faced discrimination due to his status as an illegitimate child and his racial background.

Despite the hardships, from a young age, he was determined to dedicate his life to serving God and the most needy. He worked as a barber and became an expert in medicine, providing free aid to the poor.

He entered a Dominican convent as a lay helper.
