Embroidery of the Altar Cloth
Altar cloth made of polyester and cotton with two types of embroidery, one for the front of the altar cloth and another for the two side faces.
-
Side Embroidery of the Altar Cloth
The embroidery of the altar cloth's two side faces is formed by combining the two characteristic elements of the Eucharist.
On the one hand, the vine branch with leaves and grapes that evoke the Eucharist and wine as a representation of the Blood of Christ:
"Take and drink all of it, for this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and all men for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me."
On the other hand, the ears of wheat and the leaves of the wheat with golden grains represent the Eucharistic Bread and the Body of Christ:
"Take and eat all of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you." Both parts are united by a ribbon, a vine branch with leaves with green embroidery and small bunches of grapes. At the top of the composition are three golden ears of wheat.
-
Front Embroidery of the Cloth
The embroidery of the front part of the altar cloth is made up of three designs with various liturgical elements.
The first of these, located in the central area, has a JHS embroidered with golden thread at its bottom.
At the top of the embroidery is a Cross made with golden thread. Completing the ensemble, we see flashes that form a circle around the letters of JHS and the Cross.
The two lateral figures accompanying the JHS, the Cross, and the flashes are the same as the designs that adorn the side parts of the altar cloth.
