The tapestry reproduces the painting that Don Juan Bosco ordered the artist Lorenzone to paint.
The painting was commissioned around 1865. Once finished, it was placed on the main altar of the Turin Sanctuary. The pictorial work on which the tapestry is based is approximately 7 meters high.
In this representation of Mary Help of Christians we can see how the Virgin Mary is located in the center of the scene with her Son on her left arm. In her right arm, the Virgin carries a golden sceptre, a symbol of the monarchy and the Kingdom of Heaven. Both Jesus and his Mother are crowned with two golden crowns.
At the top of the scene you can see the Holy Spirit. All around the Virgin Mary and Jesus are the Apostles, Saints and Angels of Heaven in a position of adoration.
