The tapestry of the Annunciation, recreation of "The Annunciation" by Beato Angelico.

The tapestry recreates the famous painting "The Annunciation" by Beato Angélico. It is a faithful reproduction but certain aspects of the painting could not be reproduced in the tapestry due to its manufacturing process.

Both the painting and the tapestry of the Annunciation are divided into two parts. A main scene whose action takes place inside the building that is represented in the foreground. In this main scene we can see the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she will be the one to conceive the Child Jesus by the work and grace of the Holy Spirit.

In the secondary scene, located in the garden that is attached to the building, you can see how Adam and Eve are expelled from Eden.

Beato Angelico uses the size of the figures to place them chronologically, in the oldest events they are represented by smaller images, while the most recent events are represented by larger images.

Through this aesthetic artifice and the choice of theme, Beato Angelico symbolizes the original sin committed by Adam and Eve, and the redemption on earth through the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary.

The painting was painted by Beato Angelico between 1435 and 1445.
